Ulet's Digital Storytelling Welcome to my digital story telling, which is based on my piece entitled, The Best Birthday Ever. Taken from my Writing portfolio, The Best Birthday Ever is a descriptive piece which encapsulates the experience of a birthday girl at one of her favo u rite spots, the beach. This video shares the experience of five young boys who detest school. As teachers we need to be cognizant of the behaviours we display in the classroom because they can negatively impact on students' motivation to attend school. This leads to disruptive and unacceptable behaviours carried out by these students. We should all bear this in mind. Creating this video at some points seemed impossible and very difficult but through perseverance and my tenacity and God's grace it was completed. This is why I have this product created. Monday 16th December, 2019 Title: The Inner Planet Written and narrated by: Michele Clercent Purpose: This poem focuses on the order and characteristics of the following planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. Justification: The piece was penned as part of my writing portfolio for Promoting Writing in the Primary Grades. Descriptive Writing As Sue opened her white, round window with chipped off paint to breathe in the fresh cold morning air, she heard her mother's voice ringing through the house like a thousand thunders drumming together calling unto her. Anyone reading the sentence above will appreciate the mental image that the words helped to create to visualize and understand the author's message about Sue's mother. Painting a vivid picture, afford readers a deeper understanding of a text and cause a text to come alive, authors utilize descriptive words and phrases as well as literary devices. Without descriptive words, our pieces of writing will be as bland as food without salt. On 29th October, 2019, we began to delve into a new genre of writing, Descriptive writing. The Writing process reviewed Writing may be viewed as a daunting task but knowing that there is a step by step process that you can utilize helps makes this journey less intricate and intimidating. The writing process encompasses five stages, each containing a set of guidelines: Prewriting, Drafting, Revising, Editing and Publishing. Whether it be Expository, Argumentative, Descriptive, Narrative or Poetry writing, the writing process must be utilized in order to help you produce an excellent piece. Philosophy of Teaching Writing Writing is an essential skill that reflects the mark of a competent citizen. Any individual who has commendable writing skills has a greater potential of gaining civic competency, thus becoming more apt to be an active social participant in his or her country. However, behind every piece of writing penned lies a philosophy. Similarly, as teachers of writing teach, their writing philosophy will determine how and what they teach students and the experiences that they provide students with. During the October 15, 2019 session of Promoting Writing in Primary Grades the concentration was "Developing a Writing Philosophy." But what is a writing philosophy? A writing philosophy is a set of reflective statements of one's personal belief that will shape his/her writing practices.
